Syntagma Square, Athens. Credit: Public DomainGreece confirmed 28,933 new Covid-19 infections and 49 deaths associated with the virus in the last 24 hours, the National Public Health Organization (EODY) announced on Tuesday.
A total of 27,490 cases had been recorded in the country the day before, Monday, and 73 people died with the virus.
In the past 24-hour period, a total of 434,502 PCR and rapid coronavirus tests were conducted across the country. The positivity rate in Greece reached 6.7% on Tuesday.
Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed a total of 2,986,882 coronavirus infections. Of the cases recorded in the last seven days, 166 infections are related to travel from abroad and 1,226 to other confirmed cases.
A total of 11,207 Covid-19 cases were recorded in the region of Attica, home to the capital city of Athens, on Tuesday.
