Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather warning on upcoming heavy rainfalls and storms accompanied by a high frequency of lightning and possibly hail.
Coming from the south-western Ionian Sea the barometric low will cause a temporary weather deterioration from the evening hours of Wednesday, December 20, until the evening hours of Thursday, December 21, 2023.
Affected will be initially the south of the country and the bad weather front will gradually affect the eastern Aegean Sea and the Dodecanese.

EMY weather Warning
Heavy rain and storms are forecast:
a. From the evening hours of Wednesday, Dec 20, until the early morning hours of Thursday (21-12-23) in southern Crete and possibly in the southern Peloponnese.
b. From the early hours of Thursday, Dec 21, until noon on the islands of the eastern Aegean (mainly Samos – Ikaria region) and the eastern Cyclades and until the afternoon in the Dodecanese.
Note that EMY updates its weather warning every 12 hours.

Winds will be blowing in the Aegean Sea with 6-7 Beaufort and temperature is expected to remain at the same levels.
