Storm DANIEL damages railway network in Central Greece

Storm Daniel caused damages to the railway network in Central Greece, with 50 km of railway track and signalling from Domokos to Krannonas stations in Central Greece have been damaged in storm Daniel.

Managing director of network managing company OSE, Panagiotis Terzakis, told state-run news agency amna,that the damages caused by storm Daniel extend for about 50 km from Domokos station to ,Krannona, about 10 km outside the city of Larissa.

The damages have affected both the railway tracks and light signals in the power poles, the stations and the infrastructure network, in general.

The cost of restoration will reach 40 to 50 million euros and it will take at least a month to repair the network, Terzakis stressed.

Until then, it will not be possible to run train schedules, Terzakis underlined.
