The Consumers’ Institute (IN.KA.) in Greece has called for a boycott of the products of the two multinational companies Unilever and Procter & Gamble after Greek authorities heavily fined them with one million euros each for excessive profit.
“After the fines imposed by the government on two multinationals for excessive profit, the Board of IN.KA. decided and calls on consumers to boycott the companies Unilever and Procter & Gamble from 13 to 19 November 2023” the Institute said in statements by its President Giorgos Lehoyritis to the Parliament Committee for Production & Commerce on Tuesday, November 7.
He reportedly emphasized that “the power of the citizen-consumer is the reaction and resistance against those who profit, speculate and exploit our income.”
It is noted that a few days ago, fines of 2,000,000 euros were imposed on the two multinational companies for unfair profiteering.
⦁ Fine of 1,000,000 euros to the company “PROCTER & GAMBLE HELLAS MONOPROSSOPI E.P.”.
⦁ Fine of 1,000,000 euros to the company “ELAIS UNILEVER HELLAS AE”.
According to development ministry, the fines concern the violation of article 54 of Law 5045/29-07-2023, regarding the reduction of phenomena of unfair profit.
