Greece’s public sector union ADEDY announced a 24-hour strike on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.
ADEDY had initially planned to launch a work stoppage to honor the International Women’s Day, however it decided on Monday to a 24-hour strike.
The union plans a gathering at 12:30 in Klathmonos Square, downtown Athens.
According to an ADEDY statement, the strike aims to protest the planned “evaluation” for the employees of the public services of ministries, municipalities, regions, social security EFKA and other public sector entities.
While unions of the private sector had also announced work stoppages on March 8, it is highly possible to turn in it into “24-hour strike” as the Greek society is boiling after the deadly head-on train collision and the handling of the conservative government.
