Hollywood star Angelina Jolie is filming in Greece for the needs of her new film “Maria.” The actress is portraying the great Greek soprano Maria Kallas. a biographical drama directed by Pablo Larrain.
The film is reportedly set during Callas’ final years in the 1970s when she was living in Paris. Filming got underway in Budapest in October 2023 with other filming locations including Paris, Greece, and Milan.
Jolie’s arrival in the country has triggered a frenzy among life-style reporters, photographers and cameramen, with everyone trying to catch an exclusive instantane or even a statement.
The award-winning actress arrived by private helicopter in Katakolo, southern Peloponnese, on Friday. and immediately went to the hotel where she was staying.She is accompanied by her sons Maddox and Pax and seven bodyguards.
She stayed in the hotel until Monday morning for the scenes shooting at the Apollo Theater, in the Ilias Tower.
Monday morning, the star of Pablo Larrain’s film avoided speaking to reporters who were waiting for her. However, she briefly and shyly greeted reporters and onlookers who cheered when she exited the Apollo Theater.
After the filming in the theater that lasted four hours, the entire film crew was transferred to Aristotle Onassis’ yacht, the legendary “Christina O,”
Most of the filming in Greece takes place on board of the 99.13-meter-long luxury yacht that once belonged to Greek shipping magnate Aristoteles Onassis with whom Maria Kallas had a passionate but unfortunate relationship for a decade.
Angeline Jolie is scheduled to leave Greece on Tuesday evening, October 17, after shooting in the country concludes.
While Jolie seeks isolation and calmness, her sons are enjoying their trip to Greece and seafood delicacies together with the film crew.
Local media patrisnews.gr are proud to post selfies Jolie’s sons shot with tavern owners. A local woman reported also that Maddox was drinking a cocktail at a table next to her. Maddox and Pax are members of the production crew, patrisnews noted.
