Samaria Gorge closed to visitors on Sept 29, due to weather

The Natural Environment and Climate Change Organization has decided to close the Samaria Gorge on the island of Crete on Friday, September 29, 2023 after taking into account the meteorological forecast for rainfalls in the Gorge and the wider area.

The decision has been reportedly taken for the safety of visitors, the National Park management announced on Thursday.

According to the National Meteorological Service EMY forecast for Crete on Friday. (29/9), temporarily increased cloudiness with local rains and isolated storms.

Northern winds will be blowing with intensity 3 to 5 Beaufort, while the temperature is forecast within 20 to 26 degrees Celsius.

The phenomena will start weakening as of Friday afternoon.
