Parliament’s Ethics Committee proposes immunity lifting 11 “Spartans” MPs

Τhe Ethics Committee of the Greek Parliament unanimously decided on Thursday to propose that the plenary lift the immunity of 11 MPs of the opposition party “Spartiates” (Spartans).

The committee has in fact accepted a request by Supreme Court (Areios Paghos) prosecutor so that justice can continue its investigation into the possible deception of voters in the last general elections.

In statements to both the Committee and the press, the 11 MPs dismissed the charges claiming that they are being guided by jailed former Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kassidiaris.

It is recalled that it was the leader of the Spartiates who brought up the claims right after the elections in summer.

If investigation results are against them, they will faces charges for elections fraud.
