Air raid sirens to sound across Greece as part of drill, Oct 2

Civil defense sirens are scheduled to sound throughout Greece on Monday, October 2 as part of an annual military and public warning exercise dubbed Parmenion.

The sirens will start at 11 a.m., blasting at 60-second intervals, and end at 11.05 a.m.

a. Local time 11:00 o’clock, air raid warning signal, for a duration of sixty (60) seconds (intermittent sound of varying intensity).

b. Local Time 11:05, marking the end of the alarm, for a duration of sixty (60) seconds (continuous tone of constant volume).

c. Local Time 11:10, air raid warning signal, for a duration of sixty (60) seconds (intermittent sound of varying intensity).

d. Local Time 11:15, marking the end of the alarm, for a duration of sixty (60) seconds (continuous tone of constant volume).

e. Local Time 11:30, sign of CBRP threat warning for a duration of (120) seconds (intermittent sound of different intensity) throughout the Territory.

f. Local Time 11:35, marking the end of the alarm, for a duration of sixty (60) seconds (continuous sound of constant volume) throughout the Territory.

g. Local Time 12:20, indication of CBRN attack alarm for a duration of (120) seconds (intermittent sound of varying intensity).

h. 12:25 Local Time, marking the end of the alarm, for a duration of sixty (60) seconds (continuous tone of constant volume).

i. Local Time 12:30, indication of a threat CBRN warning alarm for a duration of (120) seconds (intermittent sound of varying intensity).

j. Local Time 12:35, marking the end of the alarm, for a duration of sixty (60) seconds (continuous tone of constant volume).

The public is advised that the activation of the Civil Defense alarm sirens is purely for a test purpose and therefore there is no reason for confusion or concern.

Simultaneously with the sounding of the Alarm Sirens, the bells of the Holy Temples of the Territory will be rung with a series of short peals at a fast rate lasting (3′) minutes, reports thrakionline.gr .

The annual drill with air raid sirens was off for two years.
