Sharp increases in fuel prices in Greece have more and more motorists to fill their tanks only for essential. In Athens prices have reached 2 euros per liter, and are close to 2.5 euros on the islands.
Drivers now only use gasoline for basic journeys, as fuel prices at the pump have gone “on fire”, with Greece continuing to be the “champion” of high prices.
With an average price of 1.96 euros per liter now, Greece occupies third place in the European fuel high prices table, behind the Netherlands where unleaded costs an average of 2.052 euros per liter and Denmark which is at 2.5 euros.
Already the prices of unleaded fuel have exceeded 2 euros per liter in many gas stations even in Attica, while the situation is much worse on the islands.
For example, according to Open TV report, at a gas station in Milos, gasoline is sold for 2.45 euros and in Patmos at around 2.37 euros, while in Attica the price even reaches 2.6 euros and in Thessaloniki 2.1 euros.
Large increases have also been seen in diesel fuel, which is moving at 1,688 euros per liter, higher than the average of the European Union, with drivers lifting the handbrake to reduce the cost of travel.
At the same time, international oil prices remain above 85 dollars per barrel.
