A Hellenic Train on Thessaloniki-Larissa route with 58 passengers on board was immobilized at Katerini, central Greece, the managing company said on Wednesday evening.
Reason for the -one more incident – was that “falling tree branches disconnected the pantograph from the overhead power line,” the hellenic Train said adding that “the glass pane in the driver’s cabin also broken.”
The 58 passengers are safe, and will be transported to their destinations by bus, the train operator noted.
More than 4 months after the train collision tragedy with 57 dead at Tempi, and neither the government nor the Hellenic Train nor any other responsible for the train network seem to have taken actions to upgrade the system.
It is the third time in the last couple of weeks, where a train get stuck somewhere in the Wild, Wild Greek “West.”
