A water-dropping aircraft Canadair has crashed near Karystos, in south Evia, early Tuesday afternoon. The Canadair CL215 was operating against the wildfire in the area. The fate of the two pilots is currently unknown.
According to initial information, the aircraft crashed in the Isiommata area, in a ravine that leads to the village of Platanistos.
Firefighters and police forces are rushing to the spot as the crash cause a fire.

The Canadair belonged to the Greek forces and two pilots were on board, with one of them being 26 years old.
The plane was lost form the radar and was spotted by a patrol helicopter.
An explosion was heard.
According to information of newspaper ethnos.gr, the Canadair crashed after it dropped water in the wildfire in the area and fell in an inaccessible place, so it is difficult for the Firemen and the police to reach the scene.
A very loud explosion was heard and at this time an attempt is being made to communicate with its two operators, which up to this time has not been possible.
