Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis announced on Friday, that Greece will send humanitarian aid to Gaza.

A C-130 military transport aircraft loaded with   tons of essential supplies such as food, drinking water and medicine will depart for Gaza on Monday, November 6.

Speaking in the Parliament, Gerapetritis said that the Greek government’s intention is to open a humanitarian corridor via the sea, however, “this is not easy as there is no safe port in Gaza.”

He added that Greece is in collaboration with the governments of Cyprus and France on “the highly challenging endeavor.”

“Our attitude remains an overall humanitarian attitude”, the Foreign Minister said while he responded to opposition criticism that Greece did not vote for the UN resolution for humanitarian corridors.

“I myself, until and before the passing of the resolution, was in contact with my counterparts in the Arab world, especially with my Jordanian counterpart. Our attitude remains an overall humanitarian attitude,” he noted.
