New cases of Covid-19 infections increased in the week of July 31-August 6 when compared to the previous week, according to the weekly report by the National Public Health Organisation (EODY), published on Thursday.
11% of the new cases is owed to the new ‘Eris‘ strain of the coronavirus, it was noted.

Hospital admissions for Covid-patients, 468 in total increased last week and also went up 78% overall compared to the average weekly for admissions during the last four weeks.
Meanwhile, the number of new intubations (8) in the week of July 31-August 6 dropped slightly compared to the previous week, but increasing 33% in comparison to the average of new intubations in the last four weeks.
At present, 18 people are intubated with Covid-19 in Greek hospitals.
22 Covid-patients died during the same week. The median age of those who died was 86 (age range: 69-97).
Weekly sampling of virus loads in urban waste in Greece showed a rise in SARS-CoV-2 in 9 of 10 regions checked.
Tests on urban wastewater showed a rise in the presence of Covid-19 virus in nine out of the 10 regions being monitored across the country in the July 31 to August 6 period,
according to the weekly bulletin issued by the National Organization for Public Health (EODY) on Thursday.
In the last bulletin, covering July 24-30, a rise in the SARS-CoV-2 load was seen in eight of the 10 regions, from just four in the week before that.
