News website newsit.gr and other media reported that the shipowner went to the basement area which was also used as a gym. from there he sent a message to his wife, who was upstairs, asking her to forgive him for what he was about to do.

He then took his own life by pointing the carbine at his chest.

The Naftomar Shipping & Trading company was founded by the Zein family in Beirut in 1972. It was owned by Imad Zein and his brothers.

The company’s address were transferred to Athens in 1991 and specifically to a building constructed for this purpose in the suburb of Voula.

An autopsy is yet to be carried out, while police is continuing investigation to definitely exclude a crime.

Note: Some Greek media refer to Zein as ‘Greek-Lebanese’ and other as ‘Greek-Syrian.’
