Snakes in flooded Greece force primary school to shut down

A primary school in Farkadona village had to be shut down due to the appearing of snakes inside the school building. The presence of snakes is attributed to the flooding in Central Greece following the two storm weather fronts in September.

The Primary School of Zarkos in the Municipality of Farkadona will be closed for two days since snakes – and even vipers – were found inside the school building according to the report of Trikalanews.gr.

Students, teachers and parents were frightened after they spotted more than four snakes – among them one viper- at the Primary School of Zarkos in the Municipality of Farkadona, one of the villages under water during the storm Daniel.

The local education authorities were informed and they tool immediately action to shut down the school for at least two days and to send a special team to remove the snakes.

Students will continue their education via distance learning on Wednesday and Thursday, while the snakes  will be removed, local media trikalanews.gr

The presence of snakes is attributed to the flooding phenomena since Zarko was dry but surrounded by water. As a result, the snakes go all the way to the village, including to the school, the local media reported.

According to Trikala Primary Education director, there have been no biting incidents.
