New cases of coronavirus over the week of September 18-24 were up compared to the previous week, according to the weekly report by the National Public Health Organisation (EODY), published on Thursday.
Hospital admissions for coronavirus (869) increased last week and also spiked 30% overall compared to the average weekly for admissions during the last four weeks.
The number of new intubations (16) in the week of September 18-24 increased compared to the previous week and also in comparison to the average of new intubations in the last four weeks (12).
At present, 33 people are intubated with Covid-19 in Greek hospitals
35 Covid-patients died in the same week. The median age of those who died was 86 (age range: 57-102).
Weekly sampling of virus loads in urban waste in Greece showed a rise in SARS-CoV-2 in 7 of 9 regions checked.
Lab tests, meanwhile, have shown that all the recent cases studied involved the highly transmissible BA.2 subvariant of the virus’ Omicron strain.
