Greek “summer” in the heart of October, temperatures up to 31°C

“Summer” in the heart of autumn with temperatures up to 6 degrees Celsius above the seasonal average are forecast in Greece for the next couple of days.

The transport of warm air masses from Africa to the Balkans and the south-eastern Mediterranean in the coming days will result in a significant rise in temperatures, with high values to be maintained until the middle of next week.

According to the prognostic data of the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr, the temperature at the level of 850 hPa (about 1500 meters from the surface) at noon tomorrow and Saturday will be 13-14 degrees higher than the normal seasonal levels.

South winds & Sahara dust

In addition to temperatures rise, southern winds will prevail, with limited visibility in places in the evening and early morning hours, while the atmospheric circulation will favor the transport of Sahara dust mainly in the western and southern parts.
