Greece’s National meteorological Service EMY issued an emergency bulletin on Friday warning of weather deterioration with heavy rainfalls, thunderstorms and possible hail.
According to EMY announcement, unstable air masses from the northwestern Balkans combined with a shallow low moving from the coast of Africa to the Aegean will cause the weather deterioration in Greece from Friday to Sunday, June 16-18, 2023.

Rains and storms that will be accompanied by a high frequency of lightning and possibly hail will affect almost the entire country, including island areas, while the intense weather phenomena in the mainland will occur mainly in the midday and afternoon hours.
EMY Weather Warning and affected areas
The areas where intense weather phenomena are forecast:
Friday, June 16: Epirus, western and central Sterea, western and locally areas in central Macedonia, western Thessaly, possibly northwestern Peloponnese and temporarily in the morning hours the Ionian Islands.
Saturday, June 17:
Central Macedonia (especially the region of Halkidiki), eastern Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly (including the Sporades islands), Evia, central and eastern Sterea (including temporarily Attica and Athens) , northern Peloponnese, islands of the northern and eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese.
Sunday, June 18:
Islands of the northern and eastern Aegean and parts of Halkidiki, eastern Thessaly, the Sporades islands and Evia.
