Twelve Greek citizens who were living in Gaza Strip have safely passed through the Rafah border crossing and are now in Egypt, diplomatic sources said on Thursday. The Greeks were among other foreigners allowed to leave the area.
They were able to leave the Israeli-Hamas war zone together with dozens of foreign nationals allowed to exit the area in the early morning hours of Thursday morning.
The Greek Embassy in Cairo and the General Consulate in Jerusalem had coordinated the action for the Greek citizens.
A total of 23 Greek nationals including a handful of Palestinians married with Greeks have been living in the Gaza Strip and were trapped there when the war broke out on October 7.
It is not known why the remaining 11 Greeks did not leave the area for Egypt.
