Greek military sources dismissed on Friday BBC reports that a Greek warship has been dispatched to the Israeli-Lebanese border.

Sources from the General Staff and the Navy stressed that while there is a vessel in the region, it is part of UNIFIL, the UN’s peacekeeping mission for Lebanon, state broadcaster ΕΡΤ reported.

“A Greek warship is reportedly being deployed to the Eastern Mediterranean – it’s likely to be stationed off the Israel-Lebanon border,” a BBC report published early Friday morning.

Earlier, the Greek General Staff confirmed that a frigate, the “Psara,” had already embarked on a scheduled, month-long NATO mission in the Eastern Mediterranean.

On Thursday, international media reports also implicated that the “Psara” frigate, was to accompanying the American USS GERALD R. FORD.

Regarding a possible involvement of Greece in the war in the Middle East beyond the explicit condemnation, government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis said “there no such case, nor any ship, nor any frigate involved in the recent developments in the Gaza Strip and Israel.”
