The Saronic Port Authority bans water sports off beaches in several residential coastal areas of Attica in the summer months plus September 2025.
According to the decision published on Tuesday, May 6, the ban applies specifically to private boats and water sports (SEA BEETLE, SEA BIKE, SURF-JET, SURF-SKI, etc.) during the summer months of June – July – August – September in front of the following residential coastal areas:
- Municipality of Vari – Voula – Vouliagmeni
- Alimos
- Municipality of Paleo Faliro
- Municipality of Kropi (Koropi)
- Municipality of Saronikos (East Attica)
The Port Authority specifies that:
1) It is decided to prohibit the circulation of private or rented personal boats – sea motorbikes, as well as those similar to them regardless of type or name (SEA BEETLE, SEA BIKE, SURF-JET, SURF-SKI, etc.), during the months of June – July – August – September between the hours of 14:00 – 17:00 of the year 2025, in accordance with the paragraph of par. 2 of article 9 of G.K.L. No. 20 (B’ 444/99), in the marine area in front of the following inhabited coastal areas.
2) Violators of this provision, regardless of any concurrent civil, criminal and disciplinary liabilities under the applicable legislation, are also subject to the sanctions of article 157 of the Code of Public Maritime Law, ratified by L.D. 187/1973 (A’ 261/73), as amended and in force.
The Saronic Port Authority determined the boundaries of the inhabited coastal areas in the area of jurisdiction of the Saronic Port Authority and the subordinate Port Departments, with a list of coordinates per municipality (You can see them in Greek website HERE.)
Of course, there is a fine for violators. How high? It’s the Greek summer surprise.
