Visitors, revenues in museums, archaeological sites up in 2024

The number of visitors to museums in Greece increased 3.8 percent in December 2024, relative to the same month in 2023, while free admission visitors dropped by 12.9 percent but receipts increased 53.3 percent, according to the Independent Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) report issued on Monday.

As regards archaeological sites, in December 2024 compared with the corresponding month of 2023, there was an decline of 8.2% in the number of visitors, of 29% in the number of free admission visitors but an increase of 8.1% in receipts.

During the period from January to December 2024, the number of museum visitors increased 14.7 percent, a 2.5 percent increase in the number of free admission visitors and 22.3 percent increase in receipts compared with the same period in 2023.

For archaeological sites, the number of visitors increased by 4.5 percent in the period January-December 2024, free admission visitors increased by 4.1 percent and receipts increased by 4.7 percent increase .
