Two Turkish nationals wanted by Greek authorities in connection with the shots fired at National Intelligence Service (EYP) agents in Thermi, Thessaloniki, have been found and arrested in Bulgaria, authorities said on Tuesday.
The process for their extradition to Greece will now begin, with a request from Greek judicial authorities to those of Bulgaria, the sources added,
The two men, aged 23 and 43, in custody have been charged with complicity in attempted homicide and warrants for their arrest have been issued.
Their arrest had been preceded by that of their 49-year-old compatriot, considered responsible for actually pulling the trigger on the EYP agents, in Greece on Saturday morning. He was found in a shed in the village Kato Vyrsini in the mountains of Rodopi and faces charges of attempted homicide, illegal weapons possession and use.
He is to appear before a Thessaloniki examining magistrate on Wednesday.
The 49-year-old appeared to be searching for a way that would take him on foot across the border into Bulgaria, which his two compatriots apparently succeeded in doing.
He reportedly told authorities that he was in panic when he shot at the agents thinking they were members of a rival gang.
