Three dead, many missing after migrants’ boat crashes into Lesvos rocks (video)

Greece’s Coast Guard has recovered the bodies of two women and one man after a boat carrying migrants crashed into rocks on the island of Lesvos on Tuesday morning.

So far 19 people have been rescued and more are missing as survivors said there were a total of 41 people onboard.

According to state broadcaster ERT, another body was spotted in the sea but it sank before it could be recovered.

The boat crash took place in the area of Thermi in eastern Lesvos, two days after another boat capsized off the island of Leros, killing three children and one woman.

Coast Guard vessels and a helicopter are operating in the area, while searches for any survivors are also being carried out from the shore.

Authorities suggest survivors may have managed to climb to higher height of the rocky beach.

The weather conditions in the area are adverse with ice-cold northern wind blowing with intensity of 6 to 8 Beaufort.

Six men, three women and a 5-year-old child, were taken to the hospital with symptoms of hypothermia.
