Strong gale winds will continue until at least on Thursday, May 1, meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafyllias posted on social media, adding that 6 regions in Greecewill be affected from wind gusts that will exceed 100 km per hour, that is over 9 Beaufort.
Note the high possibility of a sailing ban again due to the gale force strong on Monday, April 28. If you plan to travel by sea check with local port authorities and travel agents.
“Don’t hang out the laundry, on the May 1st” meteorologist Tsatrafillias humorously stated.
Very strong northern winds will continue throughout the week and especially on May 1st, he wrote.
He warned that there are “areas where wind gusts will exceed 100 km/h, potentially causing problems on land, such a broken branches, damage to chimneys, roofs, falling objects such as flower pots, antennas from balconies and terraces.”
The areas to be affected by gale winds are: North-East Aegean Sea, Evia, Attica, Cyclades, eastern Peloponnese and Chania in Crete.
He also forecast rainfalls in Cyclades, Crete and the Dodecanese as well as temperature drop by 5-6 degrees Celsius in eastern Greece.
Over the upcoming weekend, winds intensity will weaken and temperature will be on the rise.
