French retail giant Carrefour announced on Tuesday its return to Greece after 10 years, this time with a different partner and targeting small retailing through cooperation with local chains.

Carrefour, headquartered in Massy, France, is the eighth-largest retailer in the world by revenue. It operates a chain of hypermarkets, groceries stores, and convenience stores, which totals 12,225 stores in over 30 countries.

Carrefour was in partnership with Greek retail Marinopoulos Group, but sold its stake in 2012 in the early days of the debt crisis.
