Police officer injured when his gun went off in Police HQ in Athens

A police officer at the Greek Police Headquarters in Athens accidentally shot himself with his gun and was taken injured and in serious condition to a military hospital at noon on Monday.

According to media information, the gun went off and injured the officer in the abdomen. The accident occurred as the police officer was leaving the office and took his gun to put it in its holster.

His injuries are described as “serious”, however, it is indicated that his life is not in danger.

The injured police officer is the head of a department head in the financial police, in the organized crime department, housed at the Greek Police Headquarters.
