Renowned Italian actress and beauty icon Monica Bellucci is to portray the iconic Greek soprano Maria Callas at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens on September 21st.

Bellucci is coming to Greece to perform a monologue which is based on unpublished letters of the great soprano entitled “Maria Callas: Letters and Memories.”

The performance at the historical venue on the slopes of Acropolis Hill, dating back to the 2nd century AD, has been approved by Greece’s Central Archaeological Council (KAS).

“Maria Callas: Letters and Memories” starring Monica Bellucci is one of the 21 performances  that will take place at Odeon of Herodes Atticus, after the approval of KAS.

Bellucci, 55, who has admitted that she has stage fright, had previously portrayed Callas at the Bouffes Parisiens theater in March, before the coronavirus lockdowns, and she received favorable reviews for the performance.
