Heat Dome forecast to hit Greece with up to 42° C

The Heat Dome that hits the South of Europe is forecast to reach also Greece with heatwave conditions expected as of Sunday, July 6, 2025.

According to preliminary information, the heatwave will be of a relative short duration with temperatures forecast to reach up to 42 and even 43 degrees Celsius next week.

The most difficult day will be Wednesday, July 9, with temperatures climbing above 40 degrees Celsius, while in some areas such as Halkida in Evia they will reach 42 degrees Celsius

After the cool break with temperatures even below normal levels for the season, the mercury will climb again, as a five-day heatwave is expected  with the high temperatures to persist for more days.

As from Thursday, July 10, temperatures are forecast to decrease significantly.

According to Open TV meteorologist Klearhos Marousakis, from Monday to Thursday, July 7-11, the temperature will rise significantly, as westerly current will also enter Greece that will act as a windbreak for the eastern mainland. Around Tuesday and Wednesday next week we will see temperatures of up to 40 to 42 degrees Celsius.

From Saturday, July 5, the temperature will gradually start to rise as the meltemi (summer northern winds) will leave the area and the pressure difference will decrease. The levels of the very dry wind will last until tomorrow, Friday, July 5.
