Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY updated its weather warning on Friday, May 16, 2025, with regards to barometric low INES hitting the country..
According to the latest forecast data, heavy rainfalls and storms are expected until Saturday morning in large parts of the country, stormy south-eastern winds blowing with intensity 8 to 9 Beaufort and Sahara dust.
EMY Weather Warning
A. Heavy rains and storms
1.Friday (16-05-25) until late afternoon in the northern Ionian Sea (Corfu, Diapontian Islands, Paxos, Lefkada) and until the evening in Epirus, western Central Greece and western and central Macedonia
2. from Friday afternoon (16-05-25) until Saturday morning (17-05-25) in eastern Macedonia, Thrace and the northeastern Aegean Sea (Lemnos area)
3. Friday (16-05-25) in the evening temporarily in eastern Thessaly and northwestern Peloponnese.
B. Locally windy south-southeasterly winds 8 to 9 Beaufort on Friday in the Aegean Sea and until the afternoon in Crete.
C. The meteorological conditions favor the transport of Sahara Dust to the southern part of the country – mainly to Crete, the Cyclades islands, the Dodecanese and southern Peloponnese.
