On Sunday, 170 new cases of the virus were recorded, while seven people tragically lost their lives with the virus.

Of the new cases, 33 were linked to known outbreaks, and 12 were discovered during routine testing of travelers arriving in Greece.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 15,142 cases in Greece. Just 17.1% of the total cases are connected to international travel, while 41.9% can be traced to contact with a confirmed case of the virus.

In a dramatic increase from Saturday’s 65, there are currently 78 patients intubated in Greece’s hospitals. The median age of these patients is 68, and 70.5% of them are either over the age of 70 or have some underlying health condition. Just 24 of the intubated patients are women.

This dramatic surge in intubations adds to concern about space in intensive care units around Greece, some of which are reportedly nearing capacity.

As of Sunday, 338 people have died with the virus in Greece. Men make of the majority of people who have passed away with Covid-19 in the country, as women make up only 37.3% of the deaths.

The median age of those who have lost their lives with Covid-19 in Greece is 78, and 96.4% of them were either at least 70 years old or had an underlying health problem.
