French tourist found dead on yacht docked at Corinth Canal

A French tourist was found dead onboard of a sailing yacht that was anchored in the Corinth Canal.Authorities ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of the man’s death.

The French tourist was found on Sunday afternoon by officers of the Isthmian Port Authority who had previously noticed an unusual lack of movement on the yacht. Upon boarding the yacht to investigate, they found the man unconscious and lying in his cabin.

The 81-year-old man, the captain, was the sole passenger on the vessel.

He was transported by an ambulance to the Corinth General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The 2nd Isthmian Port Department of the Corinth Port Authority, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, ordered an autopsy to determine the causes of the man’s death, authorities said in a statement.

According to initial information, authorities have not found indications of a foul play. However, authorities continue investigation.
