Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias suffered an incident of low blood-pressure, while he was attending the liturgy in a church of Mount Athos.
Dendias was standing in the Holy Monastery of Xenophon short after 7 o’ clock Thursday morning when he felt dizzy and fainted thus falling to the floor and hitting his nose and teeth, local media voria.gr reported.
A doctor from the health center in Karies on Mt Athos rushed to offer first aid to the minister. A helicopter was immediately called to pick up the foreign minister and take him to Athens.
Later, the FM confirmed the incident posting on Twitter that he had two hacks he was perfectly fine, though.

He warmly thanked those who were interested in his health, adding that he was impressed by what he saw and heard from the first visit of a foreign minister to Mount Athos in the last 11 years. He pledged that he would return soon.

Dendias’ state of health does not cause any concern, media report citing sources.
Following the incident, today’s program of the Foreign Minister to visit the the Holy Monastery of Dochiari was cancelled.
It is recalled that Dendias’ visit to Mt Athos started with an ‘adventure‘ on Wednesday, when due to dense fog the helicopter transporting him to the area did not manage to land neither at the heliport of Karies, nor at the one of the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi and finally landed at the Holy Monastery of Megistis Lavra.
