Exploratory offshore drilling in the seas around Crete might not be carried out this year, Helleniq Energy management said.
Responding to a relevant question in the context of the presentation of the first quarter results, the group’s CEO Andreas Shiamisis said that there is no new information on the subject, while Helleniq’s deputy CEO, George Alexopoulos, noted: “We are in the second phase of exploration, together with our partners, Exxon which has the first say.
We are analyzing and interpreting the data in order to ensure that we will adequately limit the risk of the decision to drill, if we proceed with drilling. I do not want to speculate on the exact time of the decision, but it might not be 2025.”
During the presentation of the results, Shiamisis said that the group has established a new trading subsidiary based in Geneva with the aim of optimising crude supplies and pricing, better risk management and geographical diversification of activities. He called it an important step for the group, as it expands its activities outside Greece. [AMNA]
