The 19th Thessaloniki International Book Fair (TIBF) kicks off on Thursday, May 4, featuring 1,330 Greek and foreign writers as well as 600 events. Guest of honor this year is American Literature.
Micro-festivals will also be held, devoted to Translation, Young Writers, and Balkan Writers, while the Kids Corner is expected to be visited by 70 schools with 3,000 students.
TIBF, running May 4-7, 2023 and is held under the auspices of Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
The United States is this year’s honored country, with the Fair highlighting contemporary professional writers in American literature. A total of 22 American publishers as well as writers James Wood and Claire Messud will participate.
Literary agents and book professionals are expected from Belgium, UK, Canada, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mozambique, Spain, Sweden, Türkiye, Ukraine and the US.
The 19th TIBF is organized by the Hellenic Foundation for Culture in collaboration with local government and the Ministry of Culture & Sports.
The American Pavilion is organized by the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce.
Entrance for the public is free.
