Being Mary Jane actress Raven Goodwin announced on Monday through Instagram that she married fiancé Wiley Battle on October, 29 in Santorini.

“Peaceful. Simple. It was perfect. Just us and our koúkla,” she said sharing the news alongside photos from the couple’s special day. Koukla means “doll” or “beautiful girl” in Greek, and is an often-used term of endearment and adoration.

Goodwin and Battle first met in October 2016 while filming a TV series and connected at the Morehouse and Spelman College’s joint “Spelhouse” homecoming tailgate.

After years of dating, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child together in January 2020. The following April, Battle — a Morehouse alum — proposed to Goodwin during a picnic date in Atlanta ahead of the birth of their daughter, Riley Rosa Bell Battle.

“I’ve been a mommy for a week. Wow. Her soul is sooo beautiful. She was born on a Wednesday as was I. She has a head full of hair & she is sooooo stunning. She loves music, the sound of her daddy’s voice, and her mamas touch,” Goodwin wrote on Instagram at the time.

Goodwin is known for her role on BET’s Being Mary Jane, portraying Niecy Patterson, the niece of Gabrielle Union’s Mary Jane Paul. She is currently starring in the FOX drama Our Kind of People and will star in the Lifetime thriller Single Black Female — alongside K. Michelle and Amber Riley — which will premiere in early 2022.

Santorini is a wedding destination hot spot

The beautiful island of Santorini is a wedding destination hot spot, as hundreds of couples are tying the knot on one of the most picturesque islands in the world.

The island provides a vast variety of options for couples with different types of ceremonies, both civil and religious.

Greece recently emerged as the second most sought-after country in which to get married, according to Pinterest. Surpassed only by Morocco, the newly affianced are most likely to spend hours swooning over Greece’s cliffside beach weddings.

Although the last year has been difficult for many engaged couples, with many being forced to cancel or postpone their weddings due to coronavirus, nothing could stop couples from imagining what their wedding could look like in dream destinations like Greece.

The top five global dream destinations for weddings, according to a report, are Morocco, Greece, France, Italy, and Mexico. Closely following those destinations are Bali, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji.
